Dancehall music originated in Jamaica but unlike Reggae, it uses faster beats and rhythms as well as computerised sounds. It was popular among the Jamaican youth & was often played at parties and dance halls which is how it became known as dancehall music. The dance that was developed from this style of music is raw and energetic with noticeable African influences and can be seen in many popular music video clips today.
