Flour Hair Wins the Crowd
Award Winning Newcastle Hairdresser, Lee Nesbitt of Beaumont On Beaumont produced something a little bit different at the largest hair expo in Australia on the weekend. Lee enlisted the help of Atalie Wilmoth, choreographer from Pivot Studio, to create a performance that took the Sydney audience by storm.

Generation Next is the largest collection of hairdressers, competitions and demonstrations in the southern hemisphere. Only 8 Hair dressers are selected Australia wide to put on a performance at the expo's grand gala night. Lee Nesbitt was one of this elite group of Hair artists and so, with the help of Newcastle's Pivot Studio, he created a parade titled, Flour

The only hair dresser to cut a model's hair live on stage, Lee wowed the crowd, by cutting a partly shaven, angular design on the model in just 2 minutes , leaving the stage to huge applause as the dancers, Atalie Wilmoth, Rebecca Pollard, Jackie Parker and Sam Campbell all of Newcastle's Pivot Studio, took the stage.

"Everyone loved the (Fluorescent) costumes", Lee said, "The reaction we got to the show was just amazing". The costumes were created by Vicki of 'Daisy Chain'. A stunning visual graphics display was put together by Newcastle design company, 'Synchro Design', proving that Newcastle creative designers in all fields, Hair, Dance and Design are truly world class.

NEWCASTLE DANCER HANDLES HYUNDAI
Atalie Wilmoth, Newcastle based dancer, choreographer and teacher, was recently chosen to choreograph a Corporate Video Commercial for global car manufacturing company, Hyundai.

Atalie has just returned from Seoul, where she put together a contemporary Dance performance that was filmed by Hyundai in Korea. ˜I had to audition Sydney Dancers to take over there, we rehearsed in Sydney and spent 4 days in Seoul filming", says Atalie back home in Adamstown.

Atalie, took some Novacastrian dancers down to the audition and was pleased when 3 of them made it through to be selected. These include Timothy Shaw of Belmont, Rebecca Hall of New Lambton and Rhiannon Walters of Kotara.
"I've always known that there is so much Dance talent in Newcastle." Atalie says ˜I'd love to bridge the gap and open a path for Newcastle dancers to get commercial dance work in Sydney, Australia and overseas."

The filming for the commercial was quite intense, 14 hour days in below zero temperatures. The moves required a lot of jumping and flexibility so keeping the muscles warm in between takes was a challenge. "The Newcastle dancers were so professional, they never complained and worked so hard, I was very proud', Atalie says. 'We formed a car shape out of the dancers bodies, coming up with this concept came from some very funny moments in rehearsals, with people getting elbows in eyes and having to hold some very awkward positions."

After traveling the world with dance, featuring in leading musicals in Portugal and Hong Kong to name a few, Atalie wanted to work in Australia and missed Newcastle."I started Pivot Studio because Newcastle lacked a studio for adults, be it absolute beginners or professionals. Somewhere that dancers can go once they are ready to launch into a dance career, and also somewhere that people can come to have fun with their dance after all those years of training." Atalie says.

In Newcastle, Atalie offers fun drop-in style dance classes for absolute beginner adults. Pivot Studio also offers focus training for Dancers once they want to move into a career in commercial dance. Atalie has also worked with top professional athletes to increase their flexibility and co-ordination.

Wherever possible, due to extensive contacts in the entertainment industry, Atalie accommodates Newcastle performers in shows. An example is the top touring Musical, Valentino, which featured in Newcastle late last year.
